Water-based painting

Our wellness is also related to the healthiness of the spaces where we live. Since 2009, Edoné committed itself to use exclusively water-based paints without any chemical solvent, in compliance with UNI EN ISO14001:2004 regulations. In this way, our production policies can have a positive impact both on the environment and on the health of our workforce, which is then transferred to the final customer and the quality of his living spaces. Besides, the use of water-based paints improves the preservation of the products over time, by making them more resistant against scratches as well as by enhancing their impermeability.

Lacquering in detail: how a matt or glossy finish is made

The raw panel is initially sanded with a 180-grit sandpaper and afterwards it is coated with a layer of polyester primer. After 4 hours drying, the panel is sanded again with a 320-grit sandpaper and is then ready for the customisation.

Matt finish: each side of the panel is painted with two crossed coats of lacquered paint 140gr/sm. The tops are in addition treated with a double layer of transparent matt paint 110gr/sm, which protects them from scratches.Glossy finish: the process starts from a matt lacquered panel, which is dried and painted with two crossed coats of transparent glossy paint 130gr/sm that creates a thick layer of even paint. The panel is dried and sanded with 120-grit sandpaper and afterwards it is polished with cotton rolls and wax polishes. Once the panel is cooled, it is cleaned and given the final glossy finish thanks to the slow rotational movement of a sponge baking pad.
