Totem Apollo: new freedom for bathroom design

In contemporary bathroom design, the freestanding washbasin has become an established presence — a design choice capable of giving character to the space through form and material. Totem Apollo fits into this evolution as a freestanding structure that integrates basin and storage into a single vertical volume, freeing the wall and expanding layout possibilities.

Its installation independence allows placement at the centre of the room or near a wall, requiring only floor drainage or the technical solutions defined by the project. This versatility makes it effective in large spaces, where it can become a compositional focal point and a contemporary feature that enhances the environment, as well as in more compact settings, where its contained vertical development and integrated storage compartment turn the totem into a highly efficient space-saving solution.

Totem Apollo therefore offers designers an alternative to the traditional wall–vanity–basin sequence, introducing a freer and more three-dimensional configuration of the wash area.

Apollo 45: the return of thickness as a design choice

At the heart of the totem is the Apollo 45 washbasin, characterised by solid thicknesses and generous edges that convey substance and structural presence. The volume plays a central role, defined by measured proportions and a tridimensionality that becomes evident in the lateral reading of the rim.

Placed on a round floor-standing base, Apollo 45 clearly recalls the aesthetic of classical columns, reinterpreted through a continuous verticality between base and basin.

The waste cover follows the same logic, echoing the shape and proportions of the outer perimeter and presented in the same finish, avoiding visual interruptions and reinforcing the idea of a unified element.

Integrated storage: function and verticality

Beyond the wash area, Totem Apollo incorporates an internal storage compartment that enhances functionality without compromising compactness. The cylindrical structure is not merely a support for the basin, but becomes an equipped volume, accessible through a hinged door and designed to accommodate everyday items and accessories. Inside, shelves organise the space across multiple levels, optimising the available height.

Bringing basin and storage together in a single vertical element reduces overall footprint compared to the traditional base + top combination, optimising space and simplifying the composition. In smaller bathrooms, this translates into a practical space-saving solution that provides storage capacity without the need for additional units.

The integrated storage reinforces the complete nature of the totem: not only a distinctive design feature, but a functional solution capable of responding to practical project requirements in a compact and efficient way.

Drains and spacers: technical and installation flexibility

Totem Apollo offers multiple options for managing technical systems, allowing the configuration best suited to the project.

The solution with floor drain and floor-mounted tap enhances the autonomy of the volume, leaving the basin completely independent from the wall. Alternatively, a wall-mounted mixer combined with a floor drain allows for an even more essential reading of the wash area, reducing visible elements.

When required, the system can be integrated with 5 cm or 12 cm metal spacers.

The 5 cm spacer allows wall drain installation, introducing a slight variation in depth.

The 12 cm spacer enables mixer installation, becoming a technical element that further expands configuration possibilities.

This flexibility makes Totem Apollo suitable for different design contexts, facilitating integration with existing systems or new layout solutions.

Cheope texture: tridimensional rhythm

Among the elements that define Totem Apollo, the Cheope texture plays a central role. Applied to Edoné wood finishes and lacquers, Cheope features a triangular-section milling process. The result is a tridimensional surface characterised by a regular and decisive rhythm that engages with the language of fluted solutions, reinterpreting it through a sharper and more structured design.

The triangular section creates a calibrated interplay of light and shadow, emphasising the verticality of the totem and enhancing its plastic perception. It is not a simple surface treatment, but a process that directly influences the volumetric reading of the element, contributing to defining its identity and character.

The project is completed by the finishes of the Apollo 45 washbasin, available in Marmotek, Stonematt, Stone Color and Grit Stone, allowing combinations between stone-effect surfaces and matte tones in continuity with the overall bathroom design.

Totem Apollo thus proposes an integrated vision of the washbasin, where volume, storage and surface work together to define a new balance in contemporary bathroom design.
