Villa BA: a custom-designed renovation between memory and a contemporary signature

In Padua’s historic center, Tratto Sottile rethinks a villa: custom interiors, natural materials and Venetian texture detailing for a functional, welcoming home.

Topic: Inspirations

In the historic center of the province of Padua, Tratto Sottile renovates an independent villa, focusing on the identity of the house and its inhabitants. The aim of the project is to preserve the original character and reinterpret it with a contemporary, sober and precise style that dialogues with the existing architecture. The interiors are designed for a young family: bright, functional and warm spaces, where custom-designed furniture, cane work and measured profiles create continuity between the living and sleeping areas. Natural materials and textured surfaces define a coherent palette; the design personalises each room – from the living room to the bathrooms – according to habits and tastes, maintaining a balance between practicality and elegance. The design pays attention to proportions and geometries, optimises space and passageways, and integrates storage and countertops without weighing down the perception. In the master bathroom, full and empty volumes accompany the play of mirrors; in the guest bathroom, the particular layout is resolved with solutions studied down to the millimetre. The result is a coherent whole: an intense but measured home, where past and present coexist naturally.

A project by Tratto Sottile

Tratto Sottile is an interior design studio founded in 2001 in Piove di Sacco (Padua). Today, it is an all-female team that shares a passion and expertise in creating custom designs, coordinating craftsmen and suppliers to turn ideas into reality. Starting out in food interior design, it has expanded its experience to the industrial, naval and residential sectors. Using a “step-by-step” method, the studio supports the client at every stage, from concept to turnkey completion: scheduling, supply and installation management, and quality control. Flexibility, creativity and attention to detail guide an approach that focuses on functionality, harmony and recognisability, creating spaces that authentically reflect the identity of those who live in them.

A quick chat about Edoné, with Tratto Sottile

Among the various solutions available on the market, what convinced you to choose Edoné solutions?
We were convinced by the balance between clean lines, build quality and the breadth of the range: a proposal that allows us to work consistently on finishes, accessories and components, maintaining identity and continuity between rooms. The wealth of finishes — useful for calibrating from tone-on-tone to more textured contrasts — and the precision of the combinations naturally complemented the style and philosophy of our projects.

Was there a specific requirement at the time of the project for which Edoné's extensive customization options proved strategic and useful?
Yes: in the guest bathroom, the irregular layout led us to design a trapezoidal Giove shower tray in edotek cement (Wellness collection), with side drain and matching grate. The brand's flexibility was crucial in adapting the dimensions and shapes to the space, maintaining aesthetic and functional continuity with the Bath Living column in a matt gold metal finish and ensuring a coherent, uncompromising whole.

What’s your favorite detail of the Edoné solutions you used?
We appreciate the Calipso Circular vanity with Venetian texture, and the semi‑column with open niche beside the tub, with reduced depth: solutions that optimize footprints and lighten the visual impact. In the primary bathroom, the dialogue among the selected elements creates a measured balance between tactility and order.

How did you discover our brand?
Our first contact was at design fairs and through the brand’s digital channels. From there, conversations with your agents solidified a collaboration that has continued over time: availability, expertise and ongoing updates allow us to propose Edoné with confidence, knowing we can count on a wide range, current finishes and reliable technical support at key stages of the project.
